What Is the League of Women Voters' Mission?

The League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan political organization, encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy.

In the League of Women Voters at all levels — National, State and Local — Leagues identify issues, conduct formal studies of those issues, take positions based on the studies and take action when they have a position.

The California League maintains a list of positions for which its membership has reached consensus and therefore can take action. While most are nationwide; some are specific to our state.
